Dear Friends,

I am honored and humbled to serve this prestigious association, the Indian Nurses Association of New York (INANY), as its 7th President. I had the privilege to serve this great association as its president during the last term 2021/2022. Yet again I have been given this great honor to serve INANY as its president during the term 2023/2024. This is a great privilege and a huge responsibility that I take very seriously. This Association is formed and nurtured by many devoted and talented professional nurses of Indian origin. This association, as most of you know, was born in 2004, 16 years ago, and since then, it has grown to what we are today. Many devoted nurses, it’s many presidents, governing board, and advisory board have worked very hard amidst their busy schedule to nurture this association and make it grow as the professional organization of nurses that serve our community and our nurses. I will try my best and work hard to do justice to my job as president of INANY and serve this great association and its members to the best of my ability.

As the president of INANY, I want to proudly announce our plan and our priorities for this term. As in the last term, I want to divide our activities for the next 2 years into three pillars – Education, Service, and Charity. Education will include professional development of nurses and nursing students through providing them with free contact hours and other educational activities for their professional growth and knowledge. We will emphasize on providing educational programs that will help promote the education and talents of INANY nurses and it will be led by our Educational, APRN , and Research and Grants committees. This will help all our nurses and advanced practice nurses get the contact hours that they need to advance their professional careers and certifications at little or no cost to them. We would also like to celebrate our nurses by bringing their  education and talents to the forefront. We will do our best to bring all the educational successes of our nurses to the limelight and give them opportunities and the stage to present their projects or dissertations. We also would like us to grow  as a nurturing organization that will provide support to all our new nurses. We have many talented nurses who are highly qualified to provide support and guidance to the members of our association and all other nurses who yearn for knowledge. So, I urge all Indian nurses in the New York area to join us to share your knowledge and passion for nursing and let us all grow together to lift the nursing profession and our association to higher level.

The next pillar is Service. Every year the world sees the dedicated service of  nurses, celebrates nurses in action, and applaud what nurses do to serve the communities. Nurses have started coming to the limelight. People all around the world know nursing as a caring, and dedicated profession. Nurses work selflessly to serve their community and country. During covid 19, amidst all the fears of covid, the world saw us as angels who leave their families behind to go and do what they do best, help others. Nurses are people of service and so is our association. We will continue to grow as an association that has served our community, our home country, and our nation. INANY was involved in many activities to serve our community during the last term that included blood donation, health fairs, distributions of PPE, just to name a few. We will conduct health fairs and blood donations this term too in the underprivileged areas of our community to help the many in need. We will concentrate on promoting health and preventing diseases by educating and helping the people in our community.

Our third pillar is Charity. We, as an association will devote our talent, money, strength, and professional service for charity work. Last term INANY made itself visible to the community by its many charitable events. We will keep it going. There are many needy people in our community and home country who can benefit from our charity work. We, nurses, are always looking out to help others in need and that’s what we do best. INANY will keep growing  from what we are today and INANY will spread its wings to be known as a professional charitable organization that people will seek for help and support.

As I conclude, I want to say that the strength of any organization is its members. Along with the advisory board, executive board, governing board, and its many dedicated members, we will be able to lead this association to success. I thank all the devoted nurses in INANY who spend countless hours with dedication and passion to lead this association to a better tomorrow. I promise you that I will work hard and  selflessly with my team for the growth and further advancement of this association.

Anna George
